Eaton DG1 for general-purpose applications (1HP to 200HP at 480V). Schneider Altivar Process 320 and 340 for pump, fan, and compressor applications. Schneider Altivar Machine ATV340 for machine OEM applications. Both lines offer standard NEMA 1 and NEMA 4X enclosure options.

Legacy and Discontinued VFDs

Some facilities are still running VFDs from lines that have been discontinued, and replacing them with a current-production model isn't always straightforward. Parameter migration, encoder compatibility, bypass wiring, and enclosure fit all add complexity to a swap. Sometimes a facility needs a shelf spare in the same platform rather than dealing with a full changeover.

Edmundson Industrial sources discontinued VFDs through surplus and specialty channels. Condition is disclosed clearly: new-old-stock, surplus (previously purchased but unused), or take-out from working equipment. We do not warrant functionality unless explicitly stated.

  • Allen-Bradley 1336 PLUS, 1336 PLUS II, 1336 IMPACT, 1336 FORCE
  • ABB ACS600 series (drives and drive modules)
  • Magnetek GPD515 and GPD515/B
  • Danfoss VLT 2800, VLT 3000, VLT 5000 series
  • Siemens MICROMASTER 440 and 420 (older production)
  • Yaskawa GPD503, GPD506, CIMR-G5 series

Sourcing Legacy VFDs

The more specific your request, the faster we can check availability. Catalog number and HP/kW rating are the minimum. Enclosure type and control interface (analog, discrete, fieldbus) help us confirm the unit is a real match for your application before we quote it.

VFD Accessories We Supply

Accessories are often needed alongside a new drive, or to correct issues with an existing installation. These are sized to the specific drive HP and voltage rating.

Input and Output Line Reactors

Input line reactors (3-5% impedance) protect the VFD from voltage spikes on the supply and reduce harmonic distortion back to the line. Output line reactors protect motor insulation on long cable runs and reduce common-mode noise. Sized by drive HP, input voltage, and FLA. Specify input-side or output-side.

EMI / RFI Input Filters

Electromagnetic interference filters are required by some installations to meet CE or other EMC standards, or to protect sensitive equipment on the same power bus. Filter selection requires the drive model, HP, and supply voltage. Some drive families include an internal filter option; confirm before ordering external.

Dynamic Braking Resistors and Brake Units

Dynamic braking dissipates regenerated energy when the motor decelerates. Most VFDs include an internal brake chopper (braking transistor) but require an external resistor. Braking resistors are sized by peak braking torque, duty cycle (percent braking time), and drive voltage. Braking units are needed for drives that do not include an internal chopper.

Bypass Contactors and Communication Modules

Bypass contactors allow the motor to run across the line when the VFD is out of service for maintenance. Manual bypass and automatic bypass (with speed matching logic) configurations available. Communication modules for EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RTU/TCP, and PROFINET are available for most current-production drive families; specify the protocol and the drive model when ordering.

What to Include in a VFD Request

Current-production drives quote quickly on standard configurations. Custom enclosures, special communications, or high-horsepower frames may have additional lead time. Discontinued drives depend on what's in the market at the time of the request.

  • HP or kW rating of the motor the drive will control
  • Input voltage: 240V, 480V, or 600V (1-phase or 3-phase input)
  • Enclosure type: NEMA 1/IP20, NEMA 12/IP54, NEMA 4X/IP66
  • Communication protocol if required (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, Modbus, etc.)
  • Drive model number for exact replacement or cross-reference
  • For legacy/discontinued: original catalog number and platform
