Dry-type distribution transformers, control transformers, isolation transformers, buck-boost units, and liquid-filled transformers: current production and discontinued lines. Edmundson Industrial supplies active product lines and sources obsolete transformer models no longer available through standard distribution channels.
Industrial transformers are long-service equipment, many units run for decades before failure. When a transformer does need replacement, the original model is often discontinued, and facilities need an exact match for voltage, kVA rating, enclosure type, and physical footprint. Standard distributors stock current lines only.
Edmundson Industrial supplies current dry-type distribution transformers from Eaton, Square D, Hammond Power, and ABB. For discontinued transformer models (older Acme Electric catalog numbers, legacy General Electric and Westinghouse dry-type units, obsolete control transformer configurations) we source through surplus and new-old-stock channels and can often match original nameplates.
For facilities where a direct replacement is not available, we work to identify a suitable modern equivalent matched to the original specifications: primary and secondary voltages, kVA rating, impedance, temperature rise, and mounting configuration.
Transformer applications span power distribution, control power, voltage correction, and isolation. These are the transformer types we handle most frequently.
The workhorse of industrial electrical distribution. Three-phase ventilated and encapsulated dry-type units for 480V–208Y/120V and related distribution voltages.
Machine tool and industrial control power transformers for MCC panels, control cabinets, and machine tools. Single-phase and three-phase configurations.
1:1 ratio isolation transformers for noise suppression, sensitive electronics protection, medical equipment, and grounding separation requirements.
Buck-boost transformers for voltage correction applications, raising or lowering line voltage by a small percentage to match equipment requirements.
Oil-filled and less-flammable liquid-filled transformers for outdoor pad-mount, pole-mount, and vault applications requiring higher kVA ratings or outdoor installation.
Non-standard voltage applications, harmonic mitigation, phase-shifting, and custom winding requirements for unique industrial processes and facility upgrades.
Industrial transformers often run for 30 to 50 years in service. When one fails, the replacement catalog number may not exist anymore, Acme Electric, GE, Westinghouse, and Federal Pacific all had extensive dry-type transformer lines that have since been discontinued or absorbed into other brands.
Edmundson Industrial sources discontinued transformer models through surplus channels, including NOS (new-old-stock) units and reconditioned units that have been tested and verified. We can also match specifications to a current-production equivalent when the original catalog number is no longer available.
When the original nameplate is still readable, send us the data directly. When it's not, the electrical specifications are the fallback. The more detail you can provide, the faster we can source a match.
Current-production transformer brands available through standard channels, plus legacy and discontinued brands we source from surplus and NOS inventory.
Eaton's dry-type transformer line covers general purpose, K-rated, low-temperature-rise, and harmonic-mitigating designs. The former Cutler-Hammer transformer line is now Eaton product.
Square D dry-type transformers including ventilated general purpose, encapsulated, and energy-efficient designs. Schneider Electric continues the Square D transformer catalog with energy-efficiency updates.
Hammond Power manufactures a broad range of dry-type transformers including standard, K-rated, harmonic-mitigating, and drive-isolation designs. Widely used in Canadian and US industrial installations.
ABB supplies dry-type and liquid-filled distribution transformers. ABB's transformer product line spans both cast-resin dry-type units and oil-immersed distribution transformers for medium-voltage applications.
Acme Electric produced a very large catalog of control, isolation, and general-purpose transformers. The Acme brand continues under Hubbell. Many older Acme catalog numbers (TA, TF, T series) are sourced from surplus inventory.
General Electric, Westinghouse, and Federal Pacific (FPT) all produced large dry-type transformer catalogs that have since been discontinued. These units remain in service throughout industrial facilities and require sourcing when replacement is needed.
Pull the transformer nameplate information: manufacturer, catalog or serial number, kVA rating, primary and secondary voltages, Hz, phases, temperature rise, and enclosure type. A nameplate photo works well. For control transformers, the panel drawing or cabinet schematic is also helpful.
Email the nameplate data to sales@edmundsonindustrial.com, call us directly, or use the quote form on this site. For discontinued models, include photos of the unit if available: physical dimensions help narrow down sourcing options.
We'll confirm availability and provide a quote with pricing and lead time. For current-production units, standard lead times apply. For legacy and discontinued units, we'll advise on available inventory (surplus, NOS, or reconditioned) with condition clearly stated.
We handle shipping logistics across Texas and nationwide. Transformers above certain kVA thresholds may require freight coordination: we'll handle that as part of your order.
Send us your nameplate data or specifications and we'll get back to you with availability and pricing.
